Join Allison Cullingham and learn how to spin flax.

Workshop participants will learn about and use the hand tools that bring flax straw to a spinnable state.  Each participant will then be given 10-20g of mid-length flax to spin from a towel on our laps. If you have your own flax you want to spin or process, bring it, too. Alison will bring her stand-alone distaff, and those who are interested can learn about dressing one for long line flax.

Participants need to bring:

  • Hand towel (or towel the size of a standard tea towel)
  • A shallow bowl/cup for finger-dipping water to use at your wheel.
  • Any flax from your stash you may wish to try.
  • A spinning wheel or spindle

Registration cost: $10

Maximum participants: 12

How to Register: Registration is open to ASH members only, and you must login with your membership to view the registration link on the event listing page. Registration will close the Wednesday before the workshop

Coffee and Tea are available on site, but please remember to bring your lunch.

If you have any questions about the hands-on, contact Lorna Ash at 902-240-7479

* Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable. If participants cancel or no show, they forfeit the registration fee. If ASH cancels or postpones the workshop, the workshop fee will be applied as a credit on participants accounts for future workshops.
