Join Allison Cullingham and learn to spin flax.

Workshop participants will learn about and use the hand tools that bring flax straw to a spinnable state.  Each participant will then be given 10-20g of mid-length flax to spin from a towel on our laps. If you have your own flax you want to spin or process, bring it, too. Alison will bring her stand-alone distaff, and those who are interested can learn about dressing one for long line flax.

Participants need to bring:

  • Hand towel (or towel the size of a standard tea towel)
  • A shallow bowl/cup for finger-dipping water to use at your wheel.
  • Any flax from your stash you may wish to try.
  • A spinning wheel or spindle

Registration cost: $5/ person

Participation is limited to 10 persons.

Please remember to bring a brown bag lunch
