Card weaving with playing cards and handspun yarn

Join Katinka Horvath to learn how to card weave with playing cards! 
If you want to weave a sample of the yarn you proudly spun, strapping for handles or a belt, or some simple ribbon trim come join Katinka in this hands-on class.
This class will include making a set of cards or tablets, setting up the warp, a bit of history on tablet weaving, and some weaving, of course.

Materials to Bring:
  • 10 to 12 newish playing cards
  • a hole punch 
  • a corner punch
  • a straight-edge ruler
  • scissors
  • a box knife
  • a marker

For the weaving, you will need:
  • a few ounces of hand-spun yarn or any sturdy yarn (#10 crochet cotton will do) in several colours of your choice 
  • a 6-inch stitch holder 
  • a hair comb
  • a couple of dowels 1.5cm or thicker 6 to 10 inches long
  • a belt for your waist

Please remember to bring your lunch with you. Coffee and tea will be available in the kitchen.
