The May Hands-on Workshop will be an introduction to processing your own fibre from its raw form. Participants will join Lorna Ash, Ruth Davidson Fulks, and April MacLean at April’s house in Lantz to learn how to process Alpaca and Wool for spinning or felting.
Attendees will be processing both raw wool and raw alpaca, and will learn how to wash each type of fibre, prepare it and card it. We will be looking at how to use different types of preparation equipment, and exploring the differences in preparing the two different animal fibres. As we will be working outside on April’s deck, weather permitting, please dress for the conditions. In case of rain, we will be indoors, though it may be on the cozy side.
Participants need to bring:
$10/person which includes fibre that you get to take home.
Additional raw fibre can be purchased at the workshop if participants want extra to take home.
This hands-on workshop will take place on May 27, 2023 at April MacLean’s house (Lantz) from 10am - 2pm. Please look up her address in the membership directory to get the address.
