Explore the Japanese art of Kumihimo during the March Hands-on workshop. Kumihimomeans "gathered threads" and is an ancient Japanese weaving technique used to make braids and cords. The braids are made by interlacing warps of yarn, silk, etc with the use of a loom called either a Marudai, Takadai or a simple foam disk. In this workshop, you will explore the use of different yarns along with several options for starting and finishing the braids. Participants will come away with several finished braids and ideas on how to use these braids.

Registration cost is $12/person and includes a workshop supply kit (this includes a foam kumihimo disk, embroidery floss, paper bobbins and clothespins)
This hands-on workshop will take place on March 25, 2023 at Scott Manor House in Bedford, N.S. from 10am - 2pm
