Hands-on: Introduction to spinning - Learn to drop spindle

Join spinner & fibre artist Lorna Ash of Shades of Ewe Fibreworks for an introduction to the craft of hand spinning using a drop spindle. You will learn essential spinning basics like drafting and plying, and how to wet finish your yarn.

You will learn;

• Spinning vocabulary 
• How to spin singles on a top-whorl drop spindle 
• About different fibre preparations and how those differences affect your spinning and your projects
• How to ply and finish your yarn

Registration is $8/person, and participants will be provided with wool to spin, and a guild drop spindle to use for the duration of the workshop (these can also be rented from the guild equipment library). Feel free to bring along any of your own fibre stash you may wish to discuss or test out.

This hands-on workshop will take place on February 25, 2023 at Scott Manor House in Bedford, N.S. from 10am - 2pm
