    • The Opulent Alpaca - a local farm-to-yarn business in Cape Breton.

Owners Barry and Isabel will talk to us about their farm where they raise Suri and Huacaya alpacas outside of Inverness, Cape Breton.

Alpaca’s are an intelligent, gentle and compassionate animal of the camelid family. They come in 22 natural hues and have two different fibre types, the Suri and Huacaya. The Huacaya is the most common type with a crimp or wavy like fleece while the Suri has long, straight lustrous stands. They have been building their herd with a mixture of both fleece types.

They create luxury yarns from their fleece and operate their store, The Opulent Alpaca, in Inverness. They also sell their yarn, and other alpaca items, worldwide via their website. You may have seen them in their booth at Woolstock East, or at Christmas at the Forum in the past.

Barry and Isabel will join us via Zoom from Inverness.
