Wendy Landry will present a program on that under-appreciated basic of handweaving: plain weave. Advanced Plain Weave will look at ways to make the most of this simple structure / technique, which by itself requires only the simplest types of looms and basic skill levels.It is also an important basis for many other weaves and techniques. Examples to be discussed include: inlay, basketweave, thick and thin contrasts and arrangements, skipped or spaced dent work, hand-manipulated laces and leno, soumak, supplementary warps or wefts, etc. Join us to discover the many faces of plain weave.
